In 2010, the community of Stoney Creek, Ontario will be hosting the 41st Stoney Creek Canada Flag Day. The festival, started in 1969, honours Canada’s internationally famous maple leaf flag. This local event is unusual in that it takes place a month before the more traditional Canada Day, and that it focuses on a combination of pride in the Canada Flag and local civil spirit.

The 2010 parade runs on King Street, Stoney Creek, from Gray's Road to the Community Park (and arena). There are 12 bands confirmed for the 2010 parade, the most ever, as well as a number of other musical entries and over 60 participating groups.  Particiapting bands include the York Lions Steel Band, the Tophats marching band, the Preston Scout House marching band, and the Toronto Signals marching band. The parade is free to the public.

LIONS CLUB FOOD DRIVE

SC Lions Club runs a food drive for the Food Bank through the parade. Please bring a non perishable food item with you to the parade and help support their drive.

WARNING- Flag Day does not sponsor any other donation collections on the parade route, EXCEPT for bucket collection for the Flag Day parade itself, which is carried out by accredited members of local service clubs like the Optimist Club of Stoney Creek. Be wary of any other attempts to solicit funds. On two separate occasions in the last three years, fraudulent groups attempted to collect funds along the parade route. Please report any collections attempts to Hamilton Police Services personnel along the parade route.
